A social platform for
sharing products &
experiences you love
Bruno Haag and Alex Griffiths, founders of Hyfa Ltd, decided to create a social discovery platform where users can discover, curate & share products and experiences they love with their friends. Their then development vendor started to build the platform on Firebase which resulted in low performance, numerous bugs and poor apps’ logic.
Eventually, Hyfa founders settled on to change project’s development team. That’s when Bruno and Alex came to Fulcrum. To fix the app, we’ve partially moved the platform to another backend, elaborated app’s UI/UX design, product’s business strategy and roadmap. This is how Hyfa — a cross-platform iOS and Android app that features direct in-app links to various niche products — was created.
Quite often customers need to
go long & boring way to
find and buy products they love
Understanding the challenge, Hyfa Ltd came up with a unique solution — something in between of Instagram and an ordinary marketplace — a platform where people can share their favourite products of a specific niche and demographic.
Create a cross-platform mobile app
We aimed to build a social networking platform with in-app direct links to shops and products
Make sharing experience simplier
We wanted to simplify the `an end customer — a mediator — a product` model by removing the middle agents and allowing users to access products directly
Build simple-in-use app's interface
Our goal was to develop a self-explainable and simple-in-use app`s interface for users to share their favourite products & experiences
Impress with slick UI/UX design
We strived to provide sophisticated UI/UX solutions which ensure consistency, usability and authenticity of the app
Various colours for tags and links which you add to the photos
A possibility to share your posts on popular social platforms
Comments to your favorite posts & likes to specific picture tags
Clickable product tags to your photos, so that your friends could explore the products themselves
Social feed made up of the posts with your favourite categories and profiles you follow
A multi-linking feature which allows you to add extra information to the photos and leave up to 10 links for each picture
Personal profile with the photos of your favourite products & experiences
In-app direct links to the products and shops you like
In our approach, we focus on simplicity, style and usability. Bright colors and stylish fonts are our visual accents. For greater usability, we aimed to make the navigation as simple and quick as possible.
We also developed a custom UI for creating posts with tags that, when clicked on, take users to the product that the curator has tagged in the photo. With Hyfa, users can share things they like with minimal efforts and maximal pleasure.
Technologies we used
New backend stack
Originally, the app was written on Firebase. So, to ensure consistent app’s logic and better performance, we added our own Node.js backend to the platform. It helped us leverage speed advantages of our relational database and wide feature range of Firebase.
We implemented a sophisticated UI&UX design with smart micro-interactions and elaborated in-app logic.
Updated business strategy
We revised Hyfa’s business strategy, and project’s roadmap accordingly, aligning them with company’s vision and business goals.
Their communication skills and the processes they have in place are incredibly well suited to startups. The team really gets what we are trying to do.
