About the project
Belgian startup Launch is a digital matchmaking platform for students & young professionals that connects great talents with great companies quickly, directly, and privately.
In order to be attractive & usable to students and young professionals, Launch.Career needed a professional web and mobile application. As a startup, they didn’t have in-house developers, so the founders reached out to us for development assistance.
Project goals
Launch founders wanted to transform & enhance the way young talents & employers in Belgium connect with each other.
So, they wanted to build a fast & scalable web and mobile platform that:
- reinvents the recruitment process;
- simplifies candidate search & application processes;
- ensures direct communication between talent and employer;

Based on the concept of the application and its designs, we prepared a roadmap to start the development in an agile manner:

For Launch, we, actually, had to develop functionality that covers 2 target user groups – Students and Employers:
Students
and recent graduates with 0-5 years of experience who want to start their career & get spotted by the leading companies in the industry
Employers
or companies that would like to get talented & qualified candidates for their jobs and internships
Features
Profile & Page
Talents can easily sign up & create personal profiles to showcase their achievements & skills. Meanwhile, employers create a company page outlining its perks.
Openings, events & internships
Employers can add current openings & info about them, as well as add relevant events, articles, and internships to keep their candidates engaged.
Smart Content Feed
The platform’s content feed is customized for every user by the preferences set during onboarding. Besides, its matching algorithm doesn’t slow down the app’s performance.
Matchmaking algorithm
We’ve integrated a smart matchmaking algorithm into a content feed to find the best fit for students & employers. Now, it also considers students’ fields of education, language proficiency & others.
Stats & tracking
Students & employers can track their applications, messages sent, recommended openings & results achieved on the platform.
In-app messaging
Employers can reach the candidates they like with personalized communication & invite them to interviews directly inside the platform via messaging functionality.
Referrals
We’ve also added referral functionality post-release, so now students can add referral code during registration or remove/edit it later in the profile.
Push notifications
Users are notified whenever new companies join the platform, as well as are aware of new events and openings their favorite employers add.
Scalable Architecture
The platform has scalable Kubernetes microservices architecture. All its components are deployed separately so that it’s easy to scale up & can be updated without downtime.
CI/CD
Platform’s continuous integration and delivery are performed through Github CI pipelines enabling it to detect potential errors upfront and perform smoother integration.
